As I write this, I’m in Toronto airport. It’s 8:30 pm. When I left Edmonton, it was shortly after noon. The flight was only a few hours, yet the time here don’t match.

Soon, I’m in the air once more. While up there, hours will vanish.

Not just in the sense that time will pass as I watch movies, work, sleep et al…

But due to the time zones I pass, one hour becoming two and then several.

It’s hard to keep up and know where you are (or what the time is).

So much of it comes down to perspective. Right now, it is both 8:30 pm and 6:30 pm… yet that doesn’t tell the whole story because, due to jet lag and how this trip began, I’m still (somewhat, at least) on UK time.

My body *thinks* it’s midnight 😴

That’s the issue with time; and perspective overall.

It can tell you falsehoods.

Yet all that is fine, and the reason why is simple.

(keep reading if you’d like to uncover it)

Learning From Failure and Mistakesjust how powerful can failure be?

The Perfection ParadoxI’ll go ahead and say it… perfectionism is done. This video explains why 😉

3 actions to take this week

🔖 bookmark this → some people are more simple-minded and others are more complex-minded. The difference can result in rather powerful outcomes…

🎧 listen to this → an interesting conversation between Jordan Harbinger and Yuval Noah Harari about what the future holds for us mere humans.

💪 DO THISQuestion Your Thoughts — we think, each day and throughout it, and although no thought is wrong, per se, you should question each one.

this week’s featured book

How to Lead a Disciplined Life by Damon Zahariades — to progress in life, you need to take action. Action requires the discipline to step up and repeat the process over and over. This book shows you how to do that.

🎙️ pass the mic

A wonderful author, speaker, and overall leader… Dorie Clark is a gem and if you don’t follow her wonderful columns (the best place to keep up is on her LinkedIn), you’re doing yourself a disservice.

🎤 drop the mic

So… that simple reason I mentioned earlier. What is that exactly?

8:30 pm … 6:30 pm … midnight … none of it really matters.

You don’t appreciate the weird nature of time when you’re rooted in your day-to-day. Once you travel between time zones, it becomes rather apparent.

Your body can feel one thing, yet your mind another.

But what is clear is that a second is a second, and your relationship with those seconds is all that matters. Not the clock. Not the time as in the sense of what time it is in the day. All that matters is the seconds you have and how you use them.

Yet your perspective (in this case, of time) often clouds this.

And more often than not, that doesn’t bode well.

Thanks for reading today. I’ll chat with you on the other side when I’m back home across the pond. Until then, thank you for being YOU 🙏
