this edition of the [no hustle] huddle went out on Mon 12th February 2024

Earlier this week, for the first time in a while, I got to dive into some DEEP WORK … the kind where hours just disappear ?

It felt good. There’s something special about diving deep and getting into the inner depths of a project.

It reveals insights you simply cannot and will not find on the surface ?

It reminded me — not that I should need reminding — how important it is to find time to do the DEEP stuff. It’s not always possible, as meetings and other tasks find their way into your schedule. But at least some of the time, you need to set time for DEEP WORK because if you don’t, you’ll find yourself slipping into The Hustle.

More on why that is in a moment, but first, here’s today’s content I hope encourages you to do your own version of deep work in the coming days ??

from the [no hustle] community

3 Lessons From “Deep Work”a great book and one very relevant here … if you don’t have time to read, here are some of the biggest takeaways ?

Comparison Culture & Social Mediais *this* why we struggle to commit to Deep Work in 2024 ?

3 actions to take this week

? bookmark this → a byproduct of Deep Work is also this special something discussed in this thought-provoking piece ?

? watch this → how (and why) to use adversity to grow, from one of history’s most inspiring figures ?

? DO THISGo DEEP This Week — even if it’s only for an hour, schedule some Deep Work time this week so you can dive into the priority project that needs your attention, energy, and superpowers ?

this week’s featured book

Deep Work by Cal Newport — Can’t talk about Deep Work without mentioning this book from Cal ?

?️ pass the mic

When I think of deep work and being super intentional about the work you do (and don’t do), it’s Ari Meisel who comes to mind; one of the most productive, efficient, and effective human beings I’ve ever met.

Be warned, though, for he will likely place you into a rabbit hole that will make time vanish before your eyes ?

? drop the mic

As valuable as DEEP WORK is in itself, it’s also one of the best ways to keep you on the outside of ‘The Hustle’.

Why?

?

Because when you commit to deep work, you dive deep within.

Not just the project, but yourself ❤️‍?

This is important because it’s doing this that keeps you intentional about the decisions you make. Not just in terms of problem-solving and finding the right solutions, but in ensuring you stay in alignment with your values, goals, and more.

In short, Deep Work prevents the chaos of “out there” from taking control ?

It keeps you at the wheel, of your work and energy overall.

Thanks for reading today ❤️

If you know someone who needs to read this, forward it to them ▶️

Here’s to you being YOU ?
