this edition of the [no hustle] huddle went out on Monday 19th June

Welcome to the huddle,

New beginnings are always exciting, so allow me to both welcome you to this inaugural newsletter and thank you for being part of the start ? ?

I’ve been busy planning this first edition of the [no hustle] huddle for several weeks, although it’s been on my mind for longer than that. Starting something new is always exciting, yet full of terror, worry & a whole host of other emotions.

What do we do when this happens? We begin to search “out there” in the world.

To gain inspiration.

To seek validation.

There are good and bad sides to this. The good is that I’ve come across and learned from a series of incredible newsletters and the awesome creators behind them. The bad is that I’ve found myself comparing my self to them.

will I create something as good as them? should I try to replicate what they do?

These questions and more swirl inside me, a feeling I’m sure you can relate to.

Because let’s face it… Comparison Culture is a part of our modern-day culture.

It’s everywhere; at all times!

Each time you hit social media (in particular) you compare yourself to others—subconsciously or not. It’s relentless. It is pointless. Yet it’s also unavoidable because you and I are both human beings, my friend.

Sometimes, maybe even often times… we do things we know we shouldn’t.

And that is okay because even though Comparison Culture and the hustle ain’t going anywhere, you do get to choose the role it plays in your life.

as we explore further in this content below ??

from the [no hustle] community

What is the [no hustle]The first article to hit the [no hustle] site and the one that explores what it is, WHY it matters, and how you too can escape the hustle—and what that even means.

Toxic Hustle Culture: The Dark Side of SuccessThe first video (of many) and one that shines a bright light on the hustle’s toxic ways and how it sends you into a spiral of comparing you to everyone else.

3 actions to take this week

? Bookmark this → Mitch Joel has long inspired me, and this article about the relationship between social media scrolling and anxiety seemed to find me at just the right time; I hope it speaks to you in a similar way.

? listen to this → this conversation between Jordan Harbinger and Scott Lyons explores our relationship with drama and how it’s more nuanced & layered than you may think.

? DO THISintentionally use social media … over the next few days, only go on it at set times; and when you do, limit your use to just five minutes each time. Doing so stifles that endless social media scrolling, which in turn gives you less reason to compare your chapter two to another’s twenty-two.

this week’s featured book

The Comfort Zone by Kristen Butler

I’ve had the pleasure to work with Kristen in recent months, and not only is she a beautiful human being but has written a beautifully crafted book that 1) encourages you to see your “comfort zone” in a fresh light, and 2) offers genuine advice on how to step out of The Hustle so you can step deeper into you and your dreams.

?️ pass the mic

I don’t recall when I first came across Yanik Silver—during the early days of my entrepreneurial journey that is for sure. An inspiring guy who proves the value of being yourself and doing it your way. Whoever you are and whatever life you pursue, he’s the kind of individual that ignites your passion and sends it off into the cosmic beyond—if you’ve seen his journal that analogy will make sense ?

? drop the mic

And just like that, this first edition of the huddle comes to a close.

I want to thank you for being here… but FIRST, I want to reassure you that you are exactly enough as you are and you deserve to not constantly compare yourself to others. The issue is, you face an uphill battle due to the period of time we live.

All the content … all the influencers … all the people out there living seemingly perfect lives… all the people that seem just like you but a little happier, healthier, more successful, and on and on and on …

In a nutshell, that is The Hustle — it’s why the [no hustle] now exists, to help you keep on the outside of it so you can live your life on your terms.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this first newsletter and I hope you’re excited for the next one to hit your inbox next Monday—and each one thereafter.

If you have, forward it to a friend and encourage them to subscribe.

And please hit reply and share your thoughts … I’d love to hear from you and I would love to hear about what you think of Comparison Culture and the impact it’s having on our daily lives ? ?
